Dear colleagues,

For the first short- and medium-haul destinations, travel restrictions are slowly being eased and flight operations are gradually resuming. However, the effects on our industry are still clearly noticeable - not least in the current salary cuts we are facing.

The implementation of short-time work compensation and crisis collective agreements in the calculation of membership fees is an administrative challenge for our member support. It requires complex technical adjustments and is only partially covered by the current contribution rules.

Therefore we have decided to take a drastic step: Your membership fees can be adjusted by yourself.

For this purpose, we will soon activate a tool in the internal area of our website with which you will be able to determine your membership fee yourself  - within certain parameters - retroactively as of April 1, 2020. Your changes will be incorporated into the system immediately and will take effect for the collection of fees starting in August. As soon as the function is available, we will inform you.

At the same time we will present new contribution rules at the general assembly - which has to be postponed again due to the circumstances - which will set us up for the future. So much in advance: In the future, the annual professional income will be used for calculation, the percentage will be reduced to 0.9%.

In addition, we have the following topics:

  • We were loud and sent out a signal! Thanks to your support our protest march "You go on holidays, we get kicked out" was a great success
  • New workshop offer to deal with the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic
  • Surveys on EBT and Aeronautical Decision-Making

We were loud and sent out a signal!

On July 2, VC together with UFO called for a protest march in Berlin under the motto "You go on holidays, we get kicked out" Despite the long journey from MUC, NUE, LEJ, STR, FRA, CGN, DUS and HAJ almost 1,000 participants followed the call and marched from the Ministry of Finance via the Brandenburg Gate to the Chancellery.

During the approximately one-hour rally, members of the Bundestag also had their say alongside many colleagues from our own ranks. Uwe Schummer (CDU/CSU), Klaus Ernst (Die Linke) and Arno Klare (SPD) accepted our invitation and in their speeches expressed clear support from the political world for strengthening us as part of the critical infrastructure. A small selection of photos from the protest march can be found here.

Many thanks to all who participated or otherwise supported us!

Another postponement necessary: general meeting planned for 29 September

The general meeting has to be postponed again due to the Corona restrictions. The new date is Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Further information (including the venue) will be announced in due time.

The IATA's Flight Data Exchange Database has identified High Airspeed and Low Engine Thrust as the main contributing factors. For further information, please refer to the document Unstable Approaches: Risk Mitigation, Policies, Procedures und Best Practices of the IATA, IFALPA, IFATCA and Canso collaboration.
