Flight, Health & Environment

Profil

Profile

The working group FHE - Flight Health & Environment deals with topics in relation to flight crew health protection, contaminated cabin air being one of the main topics.

FHE Committee Definition

The working group Flight Health & Environment (FHE committee) is one of the youngest working groups of VC.

The committee is concerned with health aspects of aviation workplace and its immediate environment, but reminds that other specific workplace topics are already covered by other VC committees such as radiation protection and Flight Time Limitations. Our members therefore mainly focus on the subject of contaminated cabin air and its subsequent effects.

The FHE committee tasks and duties

We deal with all relevant aspects of fume events, including latest scientific findings and possible mitigation measures.

Our collaboration includes information exchange with relevant authorities, airlines, manufacturers and developers, as well as scientific research concerning health effects of fume events.

We follow the latest scientific developments with the support of peer-reviewed literature and inform about research results and novel technical solutions.

In addition, we actively participate in the definition of European and global industry standards (DIN / CEN / SAE), where we represent the interests of flight crew.

FHE Committee goals

Our goal is to inform our members in the best possible way and to support crew members affected by a fume event.

We therefore visit forums, trade fairs, workshops and lectures. Additionally, we are available to help colleagues looking for advice.
